About Faux Fur

Faux fur fabric provides the look and feel of the real thing at an affordable price and without injury to any animal. The "fur" in fake fur is typically acrylic, polyester or a combination of the two. These fabrics have a backing into which the "fur" fibers are woven. The backing may be cotton, nylon or polyester. Fake fur is mostly faux--the only natural element being the cotton, if there is any.

Although popular for coats, fake fur fabric is frequently used for apparel trim, costumes and a variety of craft and home decorating projects.

Fake fur is much easier to care for than the real thing too. Generally, it can be washed as you would any delicate item -- by hand in cool water or in the washing machine on the delicate cycle. Since washing may change the appearance of the fur, we suggest testing with a swatch first.

Denver Fabrics offers faux fur fabric in a number of styles including seal, mink, leopard, jaguar, fox, chinchilla, dalmation, and cow print--all at discounted prices. Although most of our fake fur consists of animal fur imitations, some of it is in pastel or bright colors that are great fun but resemble no known living creature.
